DREAMWALKING

We are all dreaming all of the time.

"Cynthia's rapport with and interpretation of the dream world is truly amazing. Working with her provided a profound insight into the meaning of my inner reality as seen through my dreams.... Cynthia's talents, combined with her care for humanity, her compassionate, empathetic spirit, and her genuine desire to help others become whole, make her a healer in the truest sense of the word."
- Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Bodyworker

Dreamwalking is the name I have given to a unique modality I developed for working with one's unconscious.  It is a way of "seeing" informed by our dreaming minds and can prove enlightening on the path toward wholeness.

At the core of Dreamwalking is the understanding that our dreaming mind (the Dreamer) is always active.  We tend to assume that dreams occur only when we are asleep.  In actuality our Dreamer is aware and active while we are awake as well.  If attention is paid to this voice, it can help to guide and inform us of our inner state.  In order to gather information this way, I not only have my clients write down their night dreams, I also use meditation, visualization, guided imagery, collage, timed writing,
kinesiology, and other methods to bypass the conscious mind.

In addition to basic dreamwork, I am able to instruct more advanced clients in how to be aware of and invoke what I call a "dreamwalk," which is a kind of very deep walking meditation wherein things one encounters in everyday life become symbolic surrogates for what one needs to know about oneself.  These dreamwalks are small journeys or experiences which can be read like dreams -- one is literally walking through a dream -- and are very powerful catalysts for inner change.

Some clients have come to me after having a striking and unusual experience (usually full of serendipitous events) which they know is important but which they don't understand.  Dreamwalking is of this ilk.  I deconstruct their experience with them, gathered more dreaming information, and helped them see patterns and come to interpretations of the event.  Further, we have then placed that Dreamwalk into perspective, talking about the value of such information and how to use it to inform one's future path.

In addition, I have used Dreamwalking journeys to help clients break out of stuck patterns so they could open their minds to new possibilities.  This is not the same as brainstorming, a technique used in traditional coaching or problem solving.  Dreamwalking is very deep, symbolic and spiritual work.  It invokes information from the Unconscious, information which one may not be able to access when the Conscious mind is stuck.

Dreamwalking work can be light or heavy: a gentle addendum to regular coaching inquiries, or a very deep and powerful directed experience.  The latter is something I only undertake with people I work with at length or those who come for several days of intensive work.  Curiosity seekers are not invited to this work because it tends to be very psychologically opening.  One needs to be willing, aware, and ready to open oneself to this kind of self-revelation.

Dreamwalking work can stand alone.  I am willing to undertake alternative work like this with persons even if they do not want traditional coaching.  I call Dreamwalking my "ministry" and see it as a calling more than any other work I do. Be aware, however, that unlike coaching or dowsing, this kind of work requires longer periods of uninterrupted attention.  Dream interpretation, dowsing, and collage, as well as basic dream instruction, can be done in one-hour sessions.  An actual dreamwalk is somewhat  open-ended and can take a day or more.  I sometimes accompany clients into the field to help direct their dreamwalk journey.  Most often, however, I give instruction, do basic work together, and then send them off to journey alone.  Later we come together again for a long interpretation session.   These who work with me will understand this explanation better.  Dreamwalking flows nicely from the intuitive work I normally undertake with clients.
